Disguise the Limit Costume Rentals has the largest selection of rental costumes on Vancouver Island. established in 1992.
We have a wide selection of costumes to fit all sizes and tastes. We do theme costumes, murder mysteries, period weddings, conventions, Easter bunnies, Santa outfits, gorillas, knights and more. From Cavemen to Outer space . Yes we have real plus sizes! Classy, Tacky, Funny, Sexy,Spooky Heroic, Villainous.
We are open year round. Although we do carry good quality commercially made costumes, the majority of costumes,are one of a kind custom outfits, so you don’t have to worry about showing up at the party to find someone else in the same outfit.
We take care of all the cleaning and every costume is cleaned each time it is rented.
Finding a costume should be fun. Don’t feel stressed , Don’t waste your time or your gas driving all over town to try to put a look together for yourself. We have already done all the work for you and found or made all the perfect pieces for your event.
Prior to opening Disguise the Limit, I had worked for both Arsanic and Old Lace and Watts Costumes in Victoria. I have been in the business for 27 years. I know what works and what does not for different occasions, different body types and personalities.
We are always adding new stock to the shop,so you will not run out of choices.
Most costume rentals range from $25-$50 for a complete costume including accessories.

clowns and monks $25

tuxedo or tailcoat outfits $50
Most expensive outfits in the shop are the suit of metal armour or our Scottish formal wear at $150
The rental period is generally up to 4 days at no extra charge.
Wig rental $10
You are welcome to rent just pieces of a costume or accessories, although we do place some restrictions on this policy at Halloween time. ( see Halloween rental policies if you are renting in October).
We can often arrange delivery or pick up for $10
We will set up downtown for conventions and special events so that your delegates can chose and rent a costume on site. We do not charge extra for this service but the details must be arranged and okay-ed in advance.
HALLOWEEN RENTALS
Because of the volume of customers at Halloween time our procedures have to be slightly different than the rest of the year.
This year we are trying a new policy. If you pay an extra $10 per costume,you can extend your costume rental for up to one month and return on Nov. 1st.
If you book prior to Oct 1st, you can have the extended rental without paying the extra $10
Starting Oct 1st you can rent just accessories,wigs or pieces of costumes for Halloween time, but they can not be critical pieces. What is a critical piece? You will probably have to ask about specific items but examples would be the Mad Hatters hat is critical, and nice pirate hat is not. Cruella DeVille’s wig is critical, a long black gypsy wig is not, any thing that is so specific that its absence would make it impossible to rent the remaining costume.
If you just rent accessories,wigs or pieces of a costume you pay an extra $5 per 3 items when the total is under $25 and you take the pieces with you right away and return Nov 1st.
Any accessory rentals over $25 are just treated like a regular extended rental where you pay an extra $10 to return Nov 1st.
The rest of our policy is pretty much the same as always.
At the time you book your costume, if you are not paying the full rental and taking you costume with you, you need to pay at least $10 of the rental. If you cancel or change your costume before October 21st there is a $10 cancellation charge. Costumes must be paid in full by October 21st. All costumes booked after October 21st must be paid in full when booked. Costumes canceled after that date will be refunded only if the costume is re-rented.
Our Halloween bookings start in August and recommend enthusiastic Halloween renters arrive before the end of September. You have the greatest costume selection and accessory availability at that time.
A security deposit is required before any costume leaves the shop. Visa or MasterCard imprint or $60 cash or debit deposit.
Please bring your invoice when you come to pick-up your booked costume as it helps us to find your costume faster amongst all the Halloween rentals. If you are picking up a costume for a friend it is even more critical that you bring the invoice because it is extremely difficult to find a costume if the only information you can give us is that the costume was rented by your cousin Tony’s girlfriend who you think is a blond or maybe a red head.
We try to make the rental procedures go smoothly but you have a lot of choices to make and we have a lot of information to take, so allow yourself enough time. Choosing your costume should be part of the fun of wearing it. You would be amazed at the valuable cape wearing advice, that you can pick up from other customers.
